Russia issues over 90,000 e-visas for foreigners in under three months — senior diplomat
MOSCOW, October 25. /TASS/. More than 90,000 electronic visas for entering Russia have been issued to foreign visitors since August 1, and this number will soon increase to 100,000, Evgeny Ivanov, Russian State Secretary and Deputy Foreign Minister, said.
"In less than three months [since the launch] of the consolidated electronic visa [system], more than 90,000 [such e-visas] have already been issued. We expect that this figure will exceed 100,000 for the [full] three months" the senior diplomat said at the "Digital International Relations - 2023" conference taking place at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University).
According to Ivanov, in the current situation this is "not a bad result at all" and that foreigners, including those from "unfriendly" countries, are still showing great interest in traveling to and visiting Russia. He recounted that the e-visa option has been available to citizens of 55 countries since August 1, 2023.
