S KALIMANTAN'S JK-WIRANTO TEAM OPTIMISTIC TO WIN 90,000 VOTES
Barabai, S Kalimantan, June 22 (ANTARA) - The campaign team of the Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto (JK-Win) ticket for South Kalimantan is optimistic it will garner 90,000 votes in the province's Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST) district come the July 8, 2009 presidential race.
HM. Satta, chairman of South Kalimantan JK-Win campaign team, who is also head of the local Golkar Party chapter made the statement here on Monday.
Based on the evaluation results of the legislative General Elections which was held on April 9, 2009, Golkar alone could grab 5,200 votes, he said, adding, above all, Golkar will not stand alone in supporting the JK-Win ticket.
"In addition to the Hanura Party, we will be supported by sympathizers of the National Mandate Party (PAN) and Republikan in HST district," he said.
Altough the support from PAN and Republikan Party members would not be on behalf of their parties, it was believed that sympathizers' support from both parties will contribute a great number of votes to JK-Win, Satta said.
To achieve the 90-thousand votes target, the campaign team applied the "Multi-Level Marketing (MLM)" system, where every person is obliged to obtain 10 votes, and at least five votes, the spokesman said.
In the meantime, dialogical campaign will be conducted in 16 locations of HST district.
The use of many locations to hold the outdoor campaign was aimed to avoid the mass concentration of people gathering, because the number of people allowed to attend public gatherings in one location was limited to 250.
Meanwhile, the number of registered voters in HST district based on the last legislative elections reached 171,848, he said.
The General Elections Commission (KPU) has set schedules for closed-door campaigning from June 2 to 10, and mass rallies from June 11 to July 4, 2009. The presidential elections will be held on July 8, 2009.
In the upcoming presidential race, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (incumbent president) who pairs with Boediono, is to compete with other candidates, namely Jusuf Kalla and Wiranto, as well as with former president Megawati Soekarnoputri and Prabowo Subianto.
