WIRANTO OFFERS NATIONAL SELF-RELIANT ECONOMY
Bekasi, June 22 (ANTARA) - Presidential hopeful Jusuf Kalla's running mate Wiranto offered a national self-reliant economy which he said was safer and more able to improve the people's welfare.
Wiranto made the offer in a dialogic campaign at the Bekasi Haj Dormitory here on Monday.
"Let us return to our true Constitution about national self-reliance. The state should make the people prosper and the economy it applies should be based on the principle of national self-reliance," Wiranto said before around 2,000 people attending the dialog.
He said a free-market economy which had proven to agonize the people and only benefited a group of capital owners would never be practiced in the country if Jusuf Kalla and he won the July presidential election.
Wiranto added that they also would not apply neo-liberalism which was just a form of freedom in the interest of rich people.
"It is said in the 1945 Constitution that our land, water, and natural resources will be developed entirely for the people's welfare and national development," Wiranto said.
Commenting on Jusuf Kalla's capability as a figure who was swift and right in taking action, Wiranto said they would bring prosperity to the people if they were elected as president and vice president.
In his dialogic campaign, Wiranto also received representatives from ten political parties.
About 15 minutes after Wiranto delivered his political oration at the Haj Dormitory in Bekasi, representatives of the Bekaksi chapter of the National Mandate Party (PAN) came to him with the party's Sunshine flag.
"Many thanks for the support from PAN representatives for me," Wiranto said. He even called five of PAN representatives to come up to the stage and asked them why they supported him.
In response to Wiranto's question, PAN's Bekasi chapter's coordinator Usman said, "We support Jusuf Kalla and Wiranto because we listen to our conscience."
After receiving the PAN representatives, Wiranto received nine other groups of representatives from the Republican Party, the Reform Democratic Party, the Reform Star Party, the Pioneer Party, the Indonesian Party of Struggle, the Regional United Party, the National People's Concern Party, the Indonesian Youth Party, the PNBK and the Indonesian Democratic Enforcement Party.
The representatives from the ten political parties then declared their support for the Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto pair in the upcoming July 8 presidential election.
