KSrelief Exhibition at UN Headquarters during Humanitarian Week Shines Light on Center’s Endeavors

New York, December 13, 2023, SPA -- The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) organized an exhibition as part of the Humanitarian Week, held at the UN headquarters in New York from December 7 to 15, 2023.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Ambassador Abdulaziz Alwasil. Attendees included UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen William David Grisley, Yemen's permanent representative to the UN Abdullah Al-Saadi, Assistant Supervisor General of Planning and Development at KSrelief Dr. Aqeel Al Ghamdi, Director for Health and Environment Aid at KSrelief Dr. Abdullah Al-Moallem, and Director of the Media and Public Relations Department at KSrelief Shalhoub Alshalhoub.
Alwasil commended the “exceptional quality and professional execution of KSrelief's humanitarian projects and programs”, and the “Kingdom's noble humanitarian role in rescuing and supporting those affected and in need worldwide”.
Grisley praised the Kingdom's strategic relations with UN organizations, “as demonstrated through KSrelief's outstanding contributions to providing humanitarian aid to the people of Yemen”.
Al-Saadi expressed gratitude to KSrelief for its significant support to the Yemeni people, particularly for providing assistance to children, and commended the Kingdom's efforts to eliminate the danger of mines and explosive devices in Yemen, and to establish safe passages for the movement of people, goods and services.
Al-Moallem emphasized KSrelief's significant contributions, including the implementation of Project Masam, to clear mines from Yemeni land, which resulted in the removal of 424,527 mines. He also highlighted the prosthetics program, which provides free services to amputees, including offering high-quality artificial limbs, training local professionals and enhancing the capacity of health institutions to enable them to offer sustainable care.
Al-Moallem noted that over 26,000 individuals in Yemen and Syria have benefited from the program, which rehabilitated them and enabled them to return to productive lives.
Alshalhoub highlighted KSrelief's extensive relief and humanitarian programs. There have been 2,670 projects implemented in 95 countries, valued at over $6.515 billion.
The exhibition displayed interactive video screens providing an overview of KSrelief's initiatives. Specific programs like Project Masam and the prosthetics program were also featured.
KSrelief pavilion showcased 535 programs in 38 countries. The center performed over 140,000 surgeries, benefiting 1.239 million individuals.
The Saudi Aid Platform, Alshalhoub said, “is a national, high-tech interface to record and document all the humanitarian, development and charitable assistance the Kingdom provides to the peoples, countries and organizations of the world".
