NZ FOREIGN MINISTER TO VISIT INDONESIA

Jakarta, June 24 (ANTARA) - New Zealand Foreign Minister Murray McCully is expected to pay a three-day official visit to Indonesia on June 24 - 26, 2009, according to a foreign ministry source here on Tuesday.

The source said here on Tuesday McCully's visit to Jakarta will be the first he would make since he assumed the foreign minister's post in November 2008.

While in Indonesia, Foreign Minister McCully will hold a bilateral meeting with his Indonesian counterpart Hassan Wirajuda. He will also meet with Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu and business circles as well as visit the ASEAN secretariat building in Jakarta.

With Wirajuda, McCully is expected to discuss efforts to step up cooperation in various fields, such as defense, immigration, economy, trade and people-to-people contacts between the two countries.

They will also discuss the second Indonesia-New Zealand Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) scheduled in New Zaland.

Besides bilateral issues, the two foreign ministers will also exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern such as ASEAN, global financial problems, the Korean peninsula, Myanamr and Middle East issues.
