SBY-BOEDIONO's BANTEN TEAM TARGETS 70 PERCENT OF REGION'S VOTES

Pandeglang, June 25 (ANTARA) - Presidential aspirant Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his running mate Boediono (SBY-Boediono duo) are projected to win 70 percent of votes in the province in the July election.

The target has been made by Banten provincial executive board of United Development Party (PPP) for Yudhoyono and Boediono.

"I am optimistic that SBY-Boediono pair will win 70 percent of the votes in Banten in the upcoming July 8 presidential election," the board spokesman Dimyati Natakusuma said here on Thursday.

Dimyati said he had optimize PPP political machine at district/municipal and subdistrict levels in Banten province to support Yudhoyono and Boediono's victory in the presidential election.

According to him, SBY-Boediono pair was predicted to have landslide victory in Banten because PPP was ranked big five in the province in the past legislative election.

He said Yudhoyono had been tested capable to lead the nation in the next period because his development program had direct relation with the people.

Meanwhile, former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Taufiqurrahman Ruki and thousands of Banten residents had declared a "People's Coalition for SBY in Serang district.

The declaration of the people's coalition was a follow up of the national-level declaration in Jakarta and the West Java provincial level in Bandung.

Ruki said the declaration in Banten was done to support Yudhoyono and his running mate Boediono in the July 8 presidential election.

According to him, the objective of the collation was nothing else but to support Yudhoyono's reelection for the 2009-2014 period because Yudhoyono through his leadership was considered to have succeeded in improving the people's welfare.

The People's Coalition for SBY also offered five programs to be carried out by Yudhoyono if he is reelected in the next presidential election.

Ruki said the five program were to maintain the stable and conducive macro economic system; to continue with National Program for Self-reliant People Empowerment (PNPM) that covers people's business credit, direct cash assistance, and free education; to make perfect the term of trade which is fair for small-and-medium-scale business; to improve workers' wages and safety; and to continue the programs to improve farmers and fishermen's welfare.
