ATTORNEY GENERAL`S OFFICE PREPARES INSTRUMENT FOR DJOKO TJANDRA`S ARREST
Jakarta, June 26 (ANTARA) - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) is preparing instruments to bring home noted businessman Djoko Tjandra, who had been convicted for corruption case relating to Bank Bali's cession case.
"The instrument to bring him (Djoko Tjandra) home was being prepared," Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Marwan Effendy said here on Friday.
Djoko Tjandra had been reported staying in Singapore after leaving Indonesia through Papua New Guinea (PNG). He left Jakarta's Halim Perdana Kusumah airport on June 10 before proceeding to PNG.
Djoko Tjandra (former owner of PT Era Giat Prima) failed to meet the summons issued on him by the prosecution's office of South Jakarta on Tuesday (June 16) without a clear reason.
Then Djoko Tjandra also failed to meet the second summons issued on Monday (June 22), on the excuse that he still had to run a business abroad.
On the third summons issued on Friday (June 26), Djoko Tjandra again failed to appear at the prosecution office allegedly because of shock after the Supreme Court issued a verdict sentencing him for two years in jail.
Marwan Effendi said that police had set Djoko Tjandra's name into red notice. "The national police chief has sent us the red notice," he said.
It means that the police has asked for Djoko Tjandra's data to be sent to Interpol at its headquarters in France, he said.
"Now it is the task of South Jakarta's prosecution office to respond to the police letter," he said. ***
