INDONESIA'S CORN PRODUCTION CONSTANTLY UP

Jakarta, June 27 (ANTARA) - Indonesia's corn production had been constantly increasing, especially that the crops are easy to grow.

Indonesia's corn production this year reached 16.47 million tons, and last year only 16 million tons, secretary general of the National Corn Council Maxdeyul Sola said in Jakarta Friday.

He said most of the corn came from East Java and Central Java each with a volume of five million tons per year.

The other major corn-producing regions are North Sumatra and Lampung.

Indonesia had been exporting its corn to several countries including Malaysia, the Philippines, Korea, Taiwan, China and Japan.

The world's corn output reached 750 million tons per year, which include 75 million tons from 70 countries, which include 15 advanced nations and the rest developing countries.
