MEGAWATI, PRABOWO TO CONCLUDE ELECTION CAMPAIGN IN PALEMBANG
Palembang, June 27 (ANTARA) - Presidential aspirant Megawati Soekarnoputri and her running mate Prabowo Subianto will conclude the final round of the election campaign in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Friday (July 3, 2009).
"Megawati and Prabowo (Mega-Pro duo) will attend a grand meeting for their final campaign in Palembang on July 3, 2009," South Sumatra regional executive board of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) spokesman MA Gantada said here on Saturday.
He said the final round of Mega-Prabwo election campaign would be conducted at Bumi Sriwijaya Sports Stadium next Friday.
"If possible, arrangement will be made for Megawati and running mate Prabowo to visit a number of places in Palembang before attending the grand meeting at the Bumi Sriwijaya Sports Stadium," Gantada said.
According to him, the Mega-Pro campaign team in South Sumatra has made every effort to introduce the duo to the people in every district, sub-district, and village across the province.
He said the campaign team has encouraged all the districts, sub-districts, and the villages in the province to vote for Mega-pro in the upcoming July 8 presidential election.
"The Mega-Pro campaign team has also staged sympathetic and dialogic campaigns in South Sumatra for the duo's victory in the election on July 8, 2009.
He said the team conducted the sympathetic campaign at Palembang Ilir market several days ago by distributing 10,000 roses, Mega-Pro logos, and other attributes to traders and visitors.
To win the people's sympathy in South Sumatra, presidential candidate Jusuf Kalla and running mate Wiranto (Kalla-Win pair) launched a similar campaign several days ago.
On the occasion, Jusuf Kalla also visited Palembang Ilir market and the Sriwijaya Sports Stadium for a dialog with the local people, while Wiranto staged the same campaign in Musi Rawas district, South Sumatra.
Unfortunately, the Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono-Boediono pair has yet to make use of the election campaign schedule to stage their rally in the province.
