AUSTRALIAN UNIVERSITY SEEKING COOPERATION WITH ISI


Denpasar, June 28 (ANTARA) - An Australian University is now exploring the possibility of cooperating with the Denpasar-based Indonesian Arts Institute (ISI) in the field of fine arts, the ISI rector said.

The cooperation being explored included exhibitions, international seminars, arts collaboration and other activities which supported the teaching and learning process, ISI Rector Prof. I Wayan Rai here on Sunday.

He said that Paul Trinidad, a visual arts lecturer of the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts of the University of Western Australia, had visited ISI to explore the cooperation.

Wayan Rai said that the cooperation of the two sides was expected to be realized before 2010.

He said that visit by a lecturer of the Western Australian University was the second of its kind conducted to follow up points of cooperation agreement which had been established since 2007.

He said that both sides were expected to sign the cooperation agreement in September 2010.

Rai said that in the near future the University of Western Australia would establish a special 'website' as a means of communications on the arts works of students and lecturers of both nations.

"The website will according to plan be named 'truly bagus', namely a bridge of culture which is able to present aesthetic nuances both in Indonesian and English languages," Rai said.

The publication of the arts works is also intended as a promotional means so that the world community, particular that of Australia and Indonesia, would be well-informed of works produced by ISI and the University of Western Australia.

He said that the cooperation of the two sides was also expected to open a chance for ISI students and lecturers to display painting and other arts works through exhibitions in Australia.

In September, ISI students and lecturers will have their first chance to display their works in Australia, he added.***5***
