NO DOUBT ABOUT PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT JK'S ISLAMIC BELIEF

Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan, June 28 (ANTARA)- A former State Minister for Women's Role DR.Hj. Tutty Alawiyah said there is no doubt about Presidential candidate, Jusuf Kalla's Islamic belief.

Alawiyah made the remarks during a dialogical campaign of the national team supporting the Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto (JK-Win) pair at the Hasanuddin HM Banjarmasin Sports Stadium here on Sunday.
Alawiyah explained that JK's father was a prominent Nahdatul Ulama (NU) or Nahdiyin figure while his mother came from the Muhammadiyah, the second largest Muslim organization in the country, so JK has sufficient Islamic belief.

"JK's capability in the Islamic field was proved since he became Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare," Alawiyah said, adding at the moment Kalla could explain extensively and clearly women's role in Islamic affairs.

Alawiyah on the occasion called on all people to elect Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto aspirant in the July 8, 2009 direct presidential polls.

Jusuf Kalla who is also the incumbent vice president and chairman of the Golkar Party, is running for president with Wiranto, chairman of the People's Conscience Party (Hanura) as his vice presidential candidate.

Kalla will compete with two other presidential candidates, namely incumbent President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) of the Democratic Party, and former president Megawati Soekarnoputri of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP).

The General Elections Commission (KPU) has set schedules for closed-door campaigning from June 2 to 10, and mass rallies from June 11 to July 4, 2009. The presidential elections will be held on July 8, 2009. *** 1 ***
