SBY, BOEDIONO CAMPAIGNING IN SOLO MONDAY AFTERNOON

Solo, Central Java, June 29 (ANTARA) - Presidential and vice presidential candidates Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Boediono will hold an electoral campaign rally at the Sriwedari stadium, here, on Monday afternoon.

SBY arrived at Adi Sumarno airport, Solo, on Monday morning from Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, where he held a campaign rally on Sunday (June 28).

Meanwhile, Boediono is expected to arrive in Solo on Monday noon after flying from Denpasar. The vice presidential candidate from the Democratic Party (PD) held campaign rallies in Ende, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Saturday (June 27) and in Denpasar (Bali Province) on Sunday (June 28).

The campaign rally at the Sriwedari stadium, Solo, is expected to be attended by around 30,000 people from the Democratic party as well as other supporting parties grouped in an alliance with PD.

It will be SBY-Boediono's first open campaign rally as they previously preferred to have an indoor campaign with an audience of not more than 3,000 people.

On Monday evening, SBY will have a meeting with around 1,000 prominent figures of Solo and Central Java in general. On Tuesday (June 30), in his capacity as the Indonesian president, SBY will inaugurate a manpower training center in Sragen, also Central Java province.

When speaking in his campaign rally in Balikpapan, Sunday (June 28), Presidential hopeful Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono expressed his regret over an allegation from his presidential race rival Jusuf Kalla that Boediono, Yudhoyono's running mate, had been obstructing the realization of the 10,000 megawatts (MW) power plant mega project.

"What I deeply regret is when certain ministers said that he had the wrong view or rather ignorant, then exposed to the general public. This must not happen, this is against ethics in the government," SBY said.

In the upcoming direct presidential election, Yudhoyono will compete with Jusuf Kalla who is also the incumbent vice president and chairman of the Golkar Party, and former president Megawati Soekarnoputri of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP).

The General Elections Commission (KPU) has set schedules for closed-door campaigning from June 2 to 10, and mass rallies from June 11 to July 4, 2009. The presidential elections will be held on July 8, 2009.
