UAE has strong confidence of hosting IRENA: Lubna
Abu Dhabi, June 29, 2009 (WAM) - The UAE has strong confidence of winning the vote which will take place tomorrow in Sharm El Sheikh for hosting the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), H.E. Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Foreign Trade, said yesterday.
“The confidence and positive stance of the UAE were based on relentless efforts spearheaded by Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” Sheikh Lubna told the local newscast of the Abu Dhabi TV Channel 1.“The UAE boasts special strengths as one of the countries of the South and housing IRENA on its land can set a precedent for the coming of international organisations to the region,” she added.
“The UAE vision for 2025 predicts that renewable energy will account for 7 per cent of the total mix of used energy,” she added.
