PRESIDENT INAUGURATES MANPOWER TRAINING CENTER IN SRAGEN

Jakarta, June 30 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono inaugurated a Ganesha Sukowati Techno Park manpower training center, in Sragen, Central Java, on Tuesday.

The Ganesha Sukowati Techno Park was aimed at implementing research, providing trainings and promoting self-reliance as well as cooperation in order to produce skilled workers and better products and services, Sragen District Head Untung Wiyono said her on Tuesday.

The training center will establish cooperation with people from various sectors such as banking, investment, trade and tourism.

The 20-ha-large training center will provide training programs concerning international languages, information and communication technology, applied business, tourism services, agricultural technology, technicals, industry and education.

President Yudhoyono was accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, Manpower and Transmigration Minister Erman Suparno, Central Java Governor Bibit Waluyo, and Sragen District Head Untung Wiyono on the occasion.

The manpower and transmigration minister was expected to handover mobile training units as assistance to a number of district heads. The mobile training units will be used at training centers in Kebumen, Purworejo and Boyolali districts.

He would also present competency-based training equipment for Tegal.

President Yudhoyono was also scheduled to inaugurate a housing complex for employees of PT Sango Indonesia and Kars Museum in Wonogiri.

The head of state was scheduled to return to Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon.

Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) arrived at Adi Sumarno airport, Solo, on Monday morning from Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, where he held a campaign rally on Sunday (June 28).

In Solo on Monday (June 29), Yudhoyono, incumbent presidential candidate and his running mate Boediono, held a campaign rally at the Sriwedari stadium, which was attended by around 30,000 people from the Democratic party as well as other supporting parties grouped in an alliance with PD.

In the upcoming direct presidential election, Yudhoyono will compete with Jusuf Kalla who is also the incumbent vice president and chairman of the Golkar Party, and former president Megawati Soekarnoputri of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP).

The General Elections Commission (KPU) has set schedules for closed-door campaigning from June 2 to 10, and mass rallies from June 11 to July 4, 2009. The presidential elections will be held on July 8, 2009. ***
