SEARCH ON FOR MISSING AVIA STAR

Jakarta, June 30 (ANTARA) - Two MAF C206 aircraft still continued searching the Avia Star plane that went missing while flying between Dekay and Wamena in Papua on Monday.

"The two MAF C206 aircraft already searched the missing Twin Otter PK-BRO Tuesday morning but no result was made," Search and Rescue Agency (SAR) spokesman Gagah Prakoso said when contacted from here on Tuesday.

He said the coordinate of the location of the missing aircraft also had not yet been discovered.

The two aircraft sent to conduct search operations were MAF C206 one registered PK-MAO piloted by captain Harry and the other PK-MAU piloted by captain T Garten.

The focus of search is an area between the districts of Polimo and Soba. The two aircraft had conducted search operations from 05.45 am and 05.46 am.

"The aircraft returned after some time observing the area. No signs that could lead to discovery were found," he said.

He said he kept coordinating with all parties concerned with regard to finding the missing aircraft.

The Twin Otter belonging to Avia Star Airlines lost contact with the monitoring tower while flying the route between Dekay and Wamena.

Piloted by captain Frans Noble and co-piloted by Dedi Sudrahat the plane lost contact with monitoring tower at 15.54 hours.

The plane carried food supplies and cabin crew named Ahmad.

The plane was expected to land at 16.02 hours but several minutes before that contact between the plane and traffic control was lost.
