MUSLIM FORUM GIVES MANDATE TO JK-WIRANTO

Jakarta, July 3 (ANTARA) - The Muslim Forum (FUI) has presented a Muslim's Mandate Charter to Jusuf Kalla and Wiranto presidential ticket as they consider the pair accommodative to the Muslims' aspiration.

"The Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto pair is very accommodative to the aspiration of the Muslims, including toward several Muslims' mandate which we have given to them," FUI Secretary General Muhammad Al Khaththath said here on Friday.

FUI presented the Muslims' Mandate Charter, which contain five main mandates, to presidential candidate Jusuf Kalla on June 24, 2009.

The Muslim organization asked Kalla to protect the Muslims' faith, to implement the Islamic teachings, to develop Islamic economic system, to improve the welfare of the Muslims, and to reject foreign intervention in Indonesia's politic, economy and other aspects.

They among other things rejected Ahmadiyah, secularism, liberalism, imperialism, and foreign military base in Indonesia. FUI also asked for free education, free health services, nationalization of the state's strategic assets, development of strategic industries, and promotion of the real sector as an economic bases.

In the upcoming direct presidential election, incumbent presidential candidate Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will compete with Jusuf Kalla who is also the current vice president and chairman of the Golkar Party, and former president Megawati Soekarnoputri of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP).

The General Elections Commission (KPU) has set schedules for closed-door campaigning from June 2 to 10, and mass rallies from June 11 to July 4, 2009. The presidential elections will be held on July 8, 2009.

Earlier, Muhammadiyah Chairman Din Syamsuddin said all members of Muhammadiyah, the country's second largest Muslim organization, prayed for the victory of presidential hopeful Jusuf Kalla and vice Presidential aspirant Wiranto (JK-Win) in the upcoming presidential race.

"The members of Muhammadiyah pray for God's blessing to Jusuf Kalla to be able to lead this country for the next five years," Din Syamsudin said here on Friday before Jusuf Kalla and students of the University of Muhammadiyah.
