BOEDIONO PROMISES BALANCED DEVELOPMENT IN ALL SECTORS
Pontianak, July 3 (ANTARA) - Vice presidential candidate Boediono has promised to implement balanced development in all sectors.
In his electoral campaign here on Friday, the presidential candidate Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's running mate said if the people gave them mandate to lead this nation in the next five years, they would develop all sectors evenly.
"Infrastructure development will certainly continue to go ahead, but it should also be followed with the development in health and education sectors," Boediono said in a dialogic campaign at Kapuas Hotel's Ballroom here on Friday.
Boediono made the statement to respond to a question from a participant of his campaign, Retno Pramudya, who asked Yudhoyono and Boediono to give their attention to infrastructure development in West Kalimantan, especially Pontianak, if they were elected in the July election as president and vice president.
"The central government will give its special attention to infrastructure development with its tax should be returned to the people through the way of fiscal, but the most important thing is the improvement in health and education services," Boediono said.
On the occasion, Boediono also said Yudhoyono and he were a cohesive team because they had known and cooperated with each other for years.
"So if you want to know what a cohesive team is, look at us because between SBY and I there are long-standing relations of cooperative and friendship," Boediono said.
He further said he would continue to struggle for the creation of people-oriented economic policies.
"There is no need to waste time by engaging in debates on economic terms because what matters is economic policies," said Boediono who whore a blue batik shirt.
He said he and Yudhoyono had put forward a realistic program because they did not want to disappoint the people.
Boediono, whose entourage was made up of his wife Herawati, Rizal Malarangeng, Chatib Basri, and Raden Pardede, arrived here at around 9.30 a.m. local time from Halim Perdanakusuma airport in Jakarta.
After the dialogic campaign, the running mate of presidential hopeful Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono of the Democratic Party (PD) joined a mass Friday prayer at Mujahiddin Mosque here.
From Pontianak, Boediono and his entourage would leave for Palembang later in the day for similar campaign and than to hold a meeting with religious figures in Palembang.
