KALLA CAMPAIGNS IN EAST JAVA

Jakarta, July 4 (ANTARA) - Presidential Candidate M Jusuf Kalla is scheduled to hold an electoral campaign rally in East Java, on Saturday, the last day of the campaigning period, prior to the election on July 8, 2009.

Jusuf Kalla and his entourage departed from Halim Perdana Kusuma, eastern Jakarta by a Fokker-100 of Pelita airline, early Saturday.

Upon his arrival at Surabaya's Juanda airport, Kalla will proceed to Pamekasan, Madura Island, by helicopter. in Pamekasan, he is scheduled to hold meetings with local prominent figures and ulema (Muslim scholars).

He will later hold a dialogic campaign at the Pamekasan sports stadium. From Pamekasan, he will fly to Bondowoso to meet local prominent figures and ulemas at the residence of Trisno Adi at Gambangan, Maesan.

From Bondowoso, Kalla and his entourage will proceed to the Islamic boarding school of Zainul Hasan Genggong, Probolinggo. He will also visit the grave of Zainul Hasan.

From Genggong, he will fly again to Malang for an outdoor campaign rally at Tumapel Singosari square.

Kalla, the current vice president, will also visit Al-Ishlahiyyah Islamic boarding school to meet local prominent figures and ulema.

His campaign activities will be closed with a meeting with around 1,000 businessmen in Surabaya, capital of East Java Province.

Among members of his entourage are Alvin Lie, Drajat Wibowo, Ali Mucthar Ngabalin, and Priyobudi Santoso.

On Friday (July 3), Muhammadiyah Chairman Din Syamsuddin said that members of Muhammadiyah have prayed for the victory of presidential hopeful Jusuf Kalla and vice presidential aspirant Wiranto (JK-Win) in the upcoming presidential race.

"Members of Muhammadiyah pray for God's blessing to Jusuf Kalla to be able to lead this country for the next five years," Din Syamsudin said on Friday before Jusuf Kalla and students of the University of Muhammadiyah.

Indonesia will hold its second direct presidential election on July 8, 2009.***
