The House Of Representatives Hosts A Session Of The Arab Parliament And Meetings Of Its Standing Committees In Baghdad

Baghdad / NINA / -The Council of Representatives announced the meetings of the Arab Parliament and its standing committees, which will be held in Baghdad from April 19-21, under the patronage of Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and attended by 60 representatives of Arab parliaments.
The Parliament will begin its work with a joint meeting between, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, marking the start of the Parliament's meetings. This will be followed by a session of the Palestine Committee. The meetings of the four standing committees of the Arab Parliament will then begin, and the activities will conclude with the fourth session of the fourth legislative term of the Arab Parliament on April 21.
The Parliament's agenda includes a training workshop for its members, which will be held on Sunday, April 20, in Al-Shabibi Hall of the Council of Representatives, under the title "Artificial Intelligence Tools in Parliamentary Work." The meeting will also include a meeting of the Arab Parliament's Bureau, attended by the Speaker of Parliament, his deputies, and the heads of the standing committees. The meeting will be held in the meeting hall of the Office of the Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives.
The Arab Parliament is the legislative arm of the League of Arab States. It was established within the framework of the League of Arab States by a decision of its Council at the summit level on March 23, 2005 in Algiers, as a transitional parliament for a period of five years. Its mandate was extended for an additional two years. It is also a space for practicing the principles of Shura, democracy, freedom, and human rights. It is a tool for dialogue and decision-making, a popular impetus for the Arab action system, and an effective partner in formulating common Arab policy. It also affirms the principle of expanding political participation as a basis for democratic development in Arab countries and strengthening ties among Arab peoples.
The Arab Parliament consists of 88 members, four members for each of the 22 member states of the League of Arab States. The Parliament has four standing committees: the Foreign, Political, and National Security Affairs Committee; the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee; the Legislative, Legal, and Human Rights Affairs Committee; and the Social, Educational, Cultural, Women, and Youth Affairs Committee. Each committee consists of 22 members. The legislative term of the Arab Parliament consists of four sessions. The session begins in October and ends in June of each year.
