Taif's Geography: Sanctuary for Wildlife, Popular Tourist Destination

Taif, April 28, 2025, SPA -- The mountainous and rugged terrain of Taif Governorate in Makkah Region forms diverse natural habitats that support a rich array of wildlife, including the Arabian leopard, sand gazelle, Arabian oryx, falcons, eagles, and various reptiles.
Environmental geography expert Saleh Al-Masoud noted that these species thrive in the highlands, benefiting from fertile soil, abundant vegetation, and water resources that together foster a rich and sustainable environment.
The slopes also provide refuge for bee colonies, which forage for nectar from flowers and roses to produce pure, natural honey. These colonies settle in the caves and crevices of the mountains, where the cool, sheltered environment offers ideal conditions for their survival.
Taif’s distinctive geography has made it a popular local and regional tourist destination, as well as a key stopover for migrating birds. Its scenic landscapes, mild climate, and rich natural surroundings make it a haven for both visitors and wildlife.
