The University Of Baghdad: 650 International Students Attracted This Year As Part Of The "Study In Iraq" Initiative

Baghdad / NINA /- The University of Baghdad announced on Monday that it has attracted 650 international students this year as part of the "Study in Iraq" initiative, stating: "The experience of hosting international students has contributed to enriching the university environment and expanding horizons of cultural and intellectual interaction."
The President of the University of Baghdad, Bahaa Ibrahim Insaf, said in a statement: "The 'Study in Iraq' initiative represents a strategic step towards supporting the presence of Iraqi universities at the regional and international levels," appreciating "the strategic vision of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Naeem Al-Aboudi, which has opened new horizons for higher education and consolidated the position of Iraqi universities in the international arena."
He added that "the university has witnessed a significant increase in the number of international students, rising from less than 50 students in the first year to more than 650 international students this year, from Arab, Asian, and African countries."
He pointed out that "the experience of hosting international students has contributed to enriching the university environment and expanding horizons of cultural and intellectual interaction, both for students and faculty members." He explained that "international universities are today measured by their ability to attract students of various nationalities and integrate them into the educational process, a goal the University of Baghdad seeks to consolidate within the framework of quality and academic accreditation standards."
He explained, "This initiative is not merely a numerical increase; rather, we consider it an investment in building sustainable scientific and cultural relations. These students will in the future become ambassadors for Iraq and its educational institutions in their home countries."
He pointed out that "attracting more than 3,000 foreign students from 40 different nationalities to study in Iraq represents a major national achievement and contributes to strengthening the international reputation of Iraqi universities in global rankings."
The President of the University of Baghdad concluded his statement by emphasizing the university's continued development of infrastructure and academic and student services to ensure a quality educational experience that meets the aspirations of international students and meets the standards of reputable universities globally.
The "Study in Iraq" initiative is one of the most important academic openness programs launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. It is being implemented for the third consecutive year, with the aim of attracting international students to study at Iraqi universities./ End
