The Arab League to NINA: We Support the Implementation of the Outcomes of Baghdad Summit and Embrace the "Development Road" Project

Baghdad / NINA /-The Arab League summarized the outcomes and decisions of the 34th session of the Arab Summit, which was hosted by the capital, Baghdad.

Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General of the Arab League, stated in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA), that "the outcomes of the 34th Arab Summit in Baghdad included a set of decisions, the lion's share of which was devoted to the Palestinian cause. The current summit session also witnessed more practical engagement and real demands to halt the aggression and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza."

He added, "The summit witnessed practical action to establish a fund for humanitarian assistance, early recovery, and reconstruction in crisis areas, including Palestine and Lebanon. Iraq, thankfully, took the initiative to allocate $40 billion to this fund." He noted that "Arab efforts to provide assistance and support during crises in previous periods were undertaken by individual countries. Therefore, the establishment of this fund will be a positive starting point under the supervision of the Arab League, and based on scientific principles that take into account future crises."

He continued, saying, "Iraq has presented an important initiative to establish a Council of Arab Trade Ministers, in light of economic wars and global crises that require unifying Arab visions on international trade issues."

The official spokesperson emphasized that "the outcomes of the development summit witnessed more than one path towards Arab economic integration, both related to the Arab Trade Zone and various economic initiatives related to artificial intelligence, including an Iraqi initiative to establish an artificial intelligence center hosted by the capital, Baghdad, in cooperation with the League of Arab States. The Secretary-General of the Arab League also proposed an artificial intelligence initiative, in addition to other initiatives, including a blue economy initiative, an Arab food security initiative, and the Arab Food Security Strategy 2025-2035."

He explained that "the outcomes of the development summit included programs and the establishment of centers based on new mechanisms, the implementation of which is expected to be monitored over the next four years of the session chaired by Iraq."

Regarding the Development Road Project, he commented, “The Development Road Project is an important Iraqi initiative that has received international attention and provides investment opportunities for countries, including neighboring countries, that have great enthusiasm and noticeable interest in this initiative, which we are embracing as Arabs to move forward with its implementation.”/End
