Al-Araji Reiterates Iraq’s Commitment to Strengthening Partnership with India

Baghdad / NINA /-Iraq's National Security Advisor, Qasim Al-Araji, reaffirmed today, Sunday, the Iraqi government’s keenness to strengthen its partnership with the Republic of India across various fields, emphasizing Iraq’s openness to the international community through its role in bridging perspectives and its consistent adoption of dialogue and diplomatic channels as a means to resolve disputes.

According to a statement from the National Security Advisor's media office, Al-Araji received the Indian Ambassador to Iraq, Sumn Bagchi, at his office in Baghdad, where the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in the security and intelligence fields. The meeting also addressed the continuation of strategic dialogue between the two countries on security, intelligence, economic, and investment matters, as well as the exchange of expertise and the signing of memoranda of understanding.

The talks further touched on the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, condemning the ongoing violations, killings, and starvation faced by the Palestinian people, and underlining the urgent need for the international community to take immediate action to stop these crimes.

For his part, the Indian ambassador commended the Iraqi government’s efforts in combating the terrorist organization ISIS, noting the group’s threat to the region and the world, and highlighting Iraq’s vital role in maintaining regional and international security and stability. /End
