Sakura Trees Grace Japan Pavilion at Esports World Cup in Riyadh

Riyadh, July 24, 2025, SPA -- Sakura trees captivated visitors at the Japan Pavilion during the Esports World Cup (EWC 2025) at Riyadh City Boulevard, part of the cultural experiences accompanying the global event. At the pavilion, Crunchyroll, a renowned company primarily known for streaming Japanese anime, showcased an artistic sculpture celebrating the deep symbolism of these trees in Japanese culture.
Sakura, or cherry blossom trees, are a significant national symbol in Japan. Typically blooming in spring, their vibrant pink flowers adorn gardens and city squares. Sakura also has practical uses in Japanese culinary traditions; dried leaves and blossoms are used in seasonal treats and beverages, such as sakura tea, made from salted cherry blossoms and traditionally served on special occasions to convey good wishes. The leaves are also used to wrap Sakura Mochi, a popular rice cake, adding a unique and fragrant flavor.
The sculpture offers visitors an opportunity to visually and emotionally connect with one of Japan’s most cherished cultural icons.
