AZERBAIJANI OMBUDSPERSON MEETS GERMAN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT COMMISSIONER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS POLICY AND HUMANITARIAN AID

Baku, July 13 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani Ombudsperson Elmira Suleymanova met the German Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid Gunter Nooke to discuss prospects for boosting overall cooperation between the two countries.
During the visit, Azerbaijani Ombudsperson spoke about the major directions of the institution, its activity in human rights protection, as well as cooperation with government bodies, mass media, public relations, international relations and close ties with many other institutions active in the area of human rights and humanitarian aid.
G. Nooke, in his turn, highly praised activity of his Azerbaijani counterpart.
The meeting also focused on respect for freedom of the press, assembly and religion as well as the laws governing the activities of non-governmental organizations.
The position of Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid was established at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany in November 1998. Gunter Nooke has occupied the post since 9 March 2006.
