Boxers Itauma and Whyte to Clash in Heavyweight Title Match in Riyadh this August
Riyadh, July 30, 2025, SPA -- On August 16, Riyadh will host one of the most anticipated international boxing events as part of the Esports World Cup, where rising British star Moses Itauma will take on veteran Dillian Whyte in a headline heavyweight title fight.
The bout will be a key test for Itauma, who enters the ring with an undefeated record of 20 fights, including 10 victories by knockout. The young contender is looking to reclaim his momentum following a recent hiatus due to a hand injury. Meanwhile, Whyte brings experience and strength, boasting 31 wins, 21 by knockout, and only three losses.
The event will also feature several high-profile undercard matches. Britain’s Nick Ball will face Australia’s Sam Goodman in a much-anticipated lightweight bout. Both fighters are undefeated and aiming to solidify their positions as world title contenders.
In the featherweight division, WBA champion Raymond Ford will go up against Puerto Rican fighter Abraham Nova in what is expected to be one of the most competitive and technically skilled matches of the evening.
Another heavyweight clash will see Croatian boxer Filip Hrgović take on Britain’s David Adeleye in a matchup that promises intensity and grit. Additionally, Japan’s Hayato Tsutsumi will square off against Britain’s Qais Ashfaq in a bout expected to showcase a high level of technical performance.
This evening of world-class boxing is part of a larger celebration combining digital entertainment and combat sports. Riyadh is hosting the Esports World Cup from July 7 to August 24, featuring 25 tournaments over seven weeks, with a total prize money exceeding $70 million. The event includes participation from more than 2,000 players and 200 clubs, and is expected to draw broad public and media attention from around the globe.
