Iraqi Parliament Speaker Reaffirms Iraq’s Firm Support for the Palestinian Cause

Baghdad / NINA/-Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, reaffirmed Iraq’s unwavering support, both governmental and popular, for the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people until the full end of the occupation.

According to a statement issued by the Speaker’s media office, Al-Mashhadani received the Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Baghdad, Ahmed Al-Ruwaidi, on Wednesday. The two discussed the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly the ongoing war of extermination and siege imposed by the Israeli occupation on civilians in Gaza.

Al-Mashhadani emphasized Iraq’s steadfast stance in supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate struggle, stressing that "the Palestinian cause is central to Iraq. It is a priority in the hearts of the Iraqi people and its institutions."

He added, “We are closely following the developments in Gaza and Palestine. Iraq’s support is continuous and unwavering, and we will continue working through Parliament and the government to provide all possible assistance to this resilient people.”

For his part, Ambassador Al-Ruwaidi described the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, pointing to the severe shortages of water, electricity, and medical supplies. He called for the full withdrawal of the occupation and the opening of all border crossings to lift the siege.

Al-Ruwaidi expressed deep appreciation for Iraq’s ongoing support, praising the efforts of the Iraqi Red Crescent, the government, and the Parliament. He also welcomed the recent decisions by several countries recognizing the State of Palestine./ End
