Al-Araji And Larijani Discuss The Implementation Of The Security Agreement Between Iraq And Iran

Baghdad / NINA / - Iraq’s National Security Advisor, Qasim al-Araji, discussed with the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, the implementation of the security agreement signed between the two countries, in addition to addressing regional issues of mutual concern.

In a statement, the National Security Chancellery said that al-Araji received Larijani and his accompanying delegation in Baghdad, where the two sides reviewed ways to strengthen the historical relations between the neighboring countries and peoples, and to expand cooperation into broader fields.

Larijani expressed his appreciation for the role of the Iraqi people in serving the pilgrims of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), describing them as “brave and generous,” and noting that the road to Karbala stands as a testament to the Iraqis’ hospitality.

The two sides also discussed mechanisms for implementing the bilateral security agreement and reviewed the security situation in the region, particularly the siege, starvation, and killing faced by the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. They stressed the need for the international community to take action to halt these violations.

Al-Araji affirmed that the Iraqi government is working seriously to prevent any security breach aimed at encroaching on neighboring countries, while Larijani praised Iraq’s balanced foreign policy and its contribution to enhancing security and stability both domestically and regionally./ End
