Iraq and South Korea Discuss Bilateral Cooperation in the Fields of Energy, Housing, and Transportation

Baghdad / NINA /- Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Planning Affairs, Hisham Al-Alawi, discussed with the newly appointed South Korean Ambassador to Baghdad, Lee Joon-il, ways to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation in economic and diplomatic fields.

Al-Alawi praised the strength of relations between the two countries and the role of Korean companies in infrastructure and development projects in Iraq, while the ambassador stressed the importance of cooperation in the energy, housing, and transport sectors, highlighting the opportunities offered by the Grand Faw Port project and the Development Road.

The two sides also discussed holding meetings of the Joint Committee during the first half of next year, in addition to activating the 2017 memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi Foreign Service Institute and the Korean Diplomatic Academy through training programs and workshops aimed at exchanging diplomatic expertise./ End
