President of the Republic Affirms Iraq’s Support for the Brotherly Libyan People in Achieving Peace, Stability, and Forming a Unified Government

Baghdad / NINA /-President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid reaffirmed Iraq’s support for the Libyan people in their efforts to achieve peace, stability, and the formation of a unified government that reflects their aspirations.
A presidential statement said that Rashid met on Thursday with Libyan Foreign Minister Abdul Hadi Al-Hwaij and his accompanying delegation on the sidelines of the Arab Social Democratic Alliance Conference held in the city of Sulaymaniyah.
The two sides discussed regional developments as well as the latest political and economic situation in Libya, in addition to reviewing broader regional and international issues of common concern.
The President stressed the importance of consolidating security and stability in the region, calling for intensified international efforts to end the suffering of the Palestinian people and to enable them to obtain their legitimate right to self-determination.
For his part, Al-Hwaij expressed his appreciation for Iraq’s supportive stance toward both the Libyan and Palestinian peoples, thanking President Rashid for the warm reception. The Libyan delegation also awarded the President the “Omar Al-Mukhtar Medal” in recognition of his firm positions in supporting peoples striving for freedom and democracy./ End
