Al-Sudani Receives A Phone Call From The French President And Stresses The Importance Of Macron's Upcoming Visit To Baghdad

Baghdad / NINA / -Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani emphasized the importance of the upcoming visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Baghdad, describing it as a key step to strengthening bilateral cooperation and discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Media Office said that Al-Sudani received a phone call on Saturday from President Macron, during which they discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance partnership between Baghdad and Paris in various fields, in addition to reviewing developments on the regional and international levels.
Al-Sudani stressed that his government is working to hold a regional conference in Baghdad to address issues of common interest, noting that Macron’s visit will support these efforts. He also reiterated Iraq’s appreciation of France’s principled stance on the Palestinian cause, warning that the ongoing violations in the Palestinian territories pose a serious precedent that complicates the global situation and challenges the international order.
The Prime Minister affirmed that Iraq is focusing on economic development and its constructive role in the region, cautioning against the risks of a new conflict that could endanger regional security and stability. He underscored Iraq’s readiness to work with France and all partners, including Iran and the United States, to prevent escalation, through dialogue based on international law.
For his part, President Macron praised the progress in Iraq’s security and stability, as well as the government’s efforts to preserve it, affirming France’s commitment to strengthening its strategic ties with Baghdad and continuing to support Iraq in various fields.
The statement added that discussions also touched on Macron’s scheduled visit to Baghdad, with the French president expressing his hope that it will achieve practical and fruitful outcomes.
