PM Receives The Commander Of The US Central Command And Discusses Joint Security And Military Aspects With Him

Baghdad / NINA /- Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani received today, Tuesday, the new Commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), Admiral Brad Cooper, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the U.S. Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance security and military cooperation between Iraq and the United States, while reviewing progress achieved in the fight against terrorism and following up on the implementation of the Joint Declaration signed in September 2024. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to all its provisions.

The talks also underlined the importance of continuing dialogue on bilateral security cooperation and broadening the scope of partnership in a way that serves the common interests of both countries.

Al-Sudani stressed that the Iraqi–U.S. partnership has yielded tangible results that contributed to strengthening security and stability at the local, regional, and international levels.

For his part, Admiral Cooper praised Iraq’s role as a model of effective cooperation in combating terrorism, reiterating CENTCOM’s commitment to building on past achievements and advancing strategic engagement in the coming stage./ End
