Kyrgyzstan U-23 football team defeats Palestine

Bishkek, Sept. 4, 2025 /Kabar/. The youth Olympic team of Kyrgyzstan (U-23) had began its journey in the qualifying round of the 2026 Asian Cup in football, meeting with the Palestine team in Bishkek on Wednesday.

The match took place at the stadium named after Dolon Omurzakov.

In the second half, Kimi Merk opened the scoring, converting a penalty (81’). However, the opponents managed to equalize the score in the added minutes (90+4’). But immediately after that, our team's attack ended with the second goal by Kimi Merk (90+5'), which brought the team a 2:1 victory.

44 teams are participating in the 2026 Asian Cup qualifying matches, which are divided into 11 groups. The Kyrgyzstan team is playing in Group "E" together with Palestine, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka.

The team of head coach Edmar Lacerda will play their next match on September 6 against the Uzbekistan team.
