FM Receives The US Chargé d'Affaires And Stresses The Importance Of Continuing And Developing Cooperation

Baghdad / NINA /-Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, affirmed on Saturday the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States across various fields, during his meeting with the newly appointed U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad, Joshua Harris.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that Minister Hussein congratulated Harris on assuming his new post, wishing him success in his upcoming mission.
According to the statement, the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries, including the activity of U.S. companies operating in Iraq. Hussein stressed the need to provide a suitable environment for their work in a manner that serves mutual interests.
The meeting also addressed the importance of continuing and developing security cooperation, in addition to discussing financial and oil-related issues between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government. Reference was made to recent understandings reached with U.S. oil companies operating in the region.
The statement added that the talks also touched on the situation in Syria, with emphasis on the need to support stability and ensure the inclusion of all Syrian components in the political process to achieve societal peace.
