Qatar Renews Condemnation of Israeli Attack, Announces Financial Contribution to IAEA

Vienna, September 16 (QNA) - The State of Qatar renewed its condemnation of the treacherous Israeli attack that targeted its territories on Sept. 9, and considered it a flagrant violation to its sovereignty and security and a clear breach of the UN Charter and international law.
HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie delivered a speech at the 69th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), held in Vienna, Austria, during which the State of Qatar affirmed that this aggression was met with widespread rejection from the international community and widespread solidarity with Doha, which stressed that it would take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity and work with its partners to ensure that Israel is held accountable for the crime it has committed. 
His Excellency announced that the State of Qatar will make a financial contribution of USD 600,000 to support the agency's resources for the period 2026-2027, expressing the country's appreciation for the agency's efforts to enhance nuclear security and develop the peaceful uses of nuclear technologies. 
HE also revealed that Qatar has submitted three new national projects within the cooperation cycle 2026-2027, in addition to participating in regional projects, most notably the project to establish the largest secondary calibration laboratory of its kind in the region, with Qatari funding of EUR 2 million in cooperation with the agency.
HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change stressed Qatar's firm position in supporting the nuclear non-proliferation regime and rejecting policies of force and threats of using nuclear weapons, calling for intensified efforts to establish a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East, given Israel's continued refusal to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and subject its facilities to a comprehensive safeguards agreement. 
His Excellency pointed out the seriousness of recent Israeli statements regarding the possible use of nuclear weapons against the Palestinian people in Gaza, considering this a flagrant violation of international law and a direct threat to regional and international security.
He also noted that the State of Qatar has made significant strides in responding to nuclear and radiological emergencies, commending IAEA's support for the country's efforts to develop nuclear safety and security strategies that ensure the protection of humans and the environment. 
HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change highlighted the Qatari scientific team's participation in the second International Nuclear Science Olympiad in Malaysia, pointing out that the team won three medals. (QNA)
