PM, Stresses The Importance Of The Contribution Of The Permanent Members Of The Security Council To Establishing Security And Stability In The Middle East

Baghdad / NINA /- Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani on Tuesday stressed the importance of the permanent members of the UN Security Council in consolidating security and stability in the Middle East.

A statement from Al-Sudani’s media office said he received in Baghdad the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergey Shoigu. The meeting reviewed the overall Iraqi-Russian relations and ways to further develop them in a manner that serves the interests of both nations and their peoples.

Al-Sudani highlighted the need to enhance cooperation and coordination amid the current regional developments, emphasizing that permanent Security Council members must assume their responsibilities to uphold security and stability, and to put an end to the war on Gaza. He pointed out that the violations committed by the Israeli entity pose a threat not only to the region but also to international peace and security.

For his part, Shoigu conveyed the greetings of the Russian President to the Prime Minister, affirming Iraq’s participation in the upcoming Arab-Russian Summit scheduled for next month, while stressing Russia’s keenness to strengthen bilateral ties with Iraq across various fields./ End
