Infant killed in pit bull attack

UTHAI THANI, Sept 17 (TNA) - A two-month-old infant was killed in a pit bull attack in Uthai Thani.
The grieving family collected the baby's body for the examination to determine the exact cause of death after the dog mauled the child's head.
The fatal attack took place on Tuesday afternoon at a rice mill as the child's mother was collecting scrap metal at a rice mill. The dog's owner speculated the dog may have mistaken the child for a toy.
The child had already been taken to the hospital by the owner of the house, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
At the scene, authorities found a six-meter-long trail of blood leading to the drainage ditch. A baby stroller with three blood-stained toys was also found nearby. The two-year-old pit bull, named “Big,” was still roaming the property when officials arrived, forcing them to wait for the owner to secure the dog before exiting their vehicle.
The mother recounted the tragic event, saying she and her father were at the home to collect scrap. After confirming with the owner that the dog was not aggressive, she began working as usual.
Shortly after, the owner brought the pit bull outside. The dog sniffed the mother, then went straight to the stroller where the baby was sleeping. The owner tried to pull the dog away, but it broke free, lunging at the baby and biting her head. The dog then dragged the infant to the ditch.
The family has not yet discussed compensation with the dog's owner, but the mother stated that she would prefer to have her daughter back than to receive any money. -819 (TNA)
