Al-Sudani Affirms Iraq’s Commitment to Strengthening Cooperation with South Korea in the Field of Armaments

Baghdad / NINA /– Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani affirmed Iraq’s commitment to strengthening and expanding cooperation with the Republic of South Korea, particularly in the field of armaments, during his meeting with South Korean Defense Minister Ahn Gyeo-back and his accompanying delegation.

Al-Sudani emphasized that bilateral relations should be comprehensive and multifaceted, especially in light of Iraq’s ongoing development and reconstruction efforts, expressing hope to increase the number of reputable South Korean companies operating in Iraq across various sectors.

At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Sudani congratulated the visiting delegation on South Korea’s National Day and the founding of the South Korean Army, stressing the importance of deepening bilateral relations and advancing them through official visits and the imminent resumption of joint committee meetings between the two countries.

The Prime Minister highlighted that Iraq is committed to developing cooperation in the armaments sector, noting that the government has a clear plan and program in line with signed agreements, with a focus on utilizing the latest technologies in the air defense system and national defense programs.

According to a statement from his office, Al-Sudani praised South Korea’s consistent support for Iraq at various stages, including its role in the fight against terrorism.

For his part, the South Korean minister conveyed greetings from the President of South Korea to the Iraqi Prime Minister and reaffirmed his country’s desire to enhance cooperation. He also confirmed ongoing coordination to deliver air defense system batteries to Iraq early next year, in accordance with the government’s strategic visions, including Iraq Vision 2050 and the Strategic Development Road Project, reflecting positive international impressions of Iraq’s progress and prosperity./ End
