King Salman Royal Reserve Marks World Agriculture Day with Nearly Four Million Trees Planted

Sakaka, September 26, 2025, SPA -- On the occasion of World Agriculture Day, the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority revealed key figures highlighting the outcomes of its projects and programs, successfully planting 3,992,200 seedlings as a major step toward restoring natural ecosystems and intensifying vegetation cover in the reserve.
These projects aim to protect the environment by combating desertification, preserving ecological balance, fostering biodiversity through the creation of safe wildlife habitats, rehabilitating degraded lands, and supporting natural life cycles through sustainable vegetation growth.
To support the natural regeneration of forests and rangelands, the authority dispersed 7,500 kilograms of local seeds, enhancing the growth of plant species adapted to the reserve’s environment. It is also implementing eight major reforestation projects focused on restoring life to priority areas identified for biodiversity conservation.
The reserve has successfully rehabilitated 750,000 hectares of degraded land, focusing restoration efforts on reclaiming vast areas affected by desertification and overgrazing, thereby paving the way for the return of plant life. It is home to more than 550 plant species, representing significant environmental wealth that requires sustained protection to ensure the sustainability of its natural resources for future generations.
The authority places utmost importance on biodiversity protection, emphasizing that these efforts are part of a comprehensive strategy to transform the reserve into a global model for sustainable nature reserve management, aligned with Saudi Vision 2030’s goals to enhance environmental sustainability and combat desertification.
