Kyrgyzstan launches annual national campaign “Female Health Month”

Bishkek, Sept. 30, 2025 /Kabar/. The annual national campaign “Female Health Month” will launch this October, mobilizing women aged 18 and older across Kyrgyzstan to undergo screenings for risk factors and early signs of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), the Embassy of Switzerland in the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
NCDs such as hypertension, diabetes, breast cancer, and cervical cancer remain leading health concerns. Screenings will be available at primary health care facilities such as Family Medicine Centres, Centres for General Practitioners, Family Group Practices, and Feldsher-Acousher Points.
The campaign is organized by the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic with the support of the Swiss project “Effective Management and Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases in Kyrgyzstan”.
Previous campaigns have demonstrated significant impact. In October 2024 alone, more than 760,000 women received preventive examinations. Among them, 45,000 were diagnosed with high blood pressure, over 10,500 were identified as high-risk for cardiovascular diseases, and 5,600 were flagged for potential diabetes. These results highlight the critical role of regular screenings in protecting women’s health and emphasize the ongoing need to raise awareness about preventive care.
The Swiss project “Effective Management and Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases in Kyrgyzstan”, financed by the Government of Switzerland, helps to improve the health and wellbeing of the Kyrgyz population by promoting healthier lifestyles and ensuring equitable access to quality primary care services.
The project covered Chui, Naryn, Talas and Issyk-Kul regions and now it covers Osh, Jalal-Abad and Batken regions, as well as Bishkek and Osh cities.
