Construction of Karakul HPP completed by 90%

Bishkek, Sept. 30, 2025 /Kabar/. Chakan Hydroelectric Power Plant (CHPP) has completed 90% of the construction of the Karakul Hydroelectric Power Plant (KHPP), Ministry of Energy reports. The work on the main structures has now been completed, namely:
- power plant building, including the turbine hall, where the main and auxiliary equipment is installed;
- main water intake structure;
- tailrace;
- pressure pipeline.
Construction of the substation and the 110 kV overhead power line, which supply the power generated by the KHPP to the grid, has been completed. Work is currently underway to install relay protection and automation devices and 10 kV cables. All construction and installation work is proceeding according to the investment agreement schedule.
For reference: the plant's design capacity is 18 MW, with an average annual electricity output of 110 million kWh. Construction of the Karakul Hydroelectric Power Plant is scheduled for the end of this year.
