OMBUDSMAN OFFICE, UNFPA CO-ORGANIZE ROUNDTABLE MEETING IN BAKU

Baku, July 15 (AzerTAc). Ombudsman Office of Azerbaijan and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) co-organized Wednesday a roundtable meeting to mark the 40th anniversary of UNFPA and the 15th anniversary of the Cairo International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD).
The event was attended by officials, representatives from international organizations and NGOs.
The discussions focused on the situation of IDPs in Azerbaijan, women`s reproductive rights, education of girls and other issues.
Azerbaijan`s Human Rights Commissioner Elmira Suleymanova briefed the participants on the Cairo conference and documents adopted there.
UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Bruno Pueza underlined the necessity of involving girls in education and ensuring women`s reproductive health.
Deputy Education Minister Elmar Gasimov said the Azerbaijani government pays special attention to promoting education of girls in the country.
Deputy Chairwoman of State Committee on Family, Women and Children issues Sadagat Gahramanova said population and development of society play an important role in solving problems of women and girls.
