WOMEN JOURNALISTS` FORUM HELD IN BAKU

Baku, 15 July (AzerTAc). The first Republican forum of Azerbaijani women journalists took place today in Baku.
Women journalists have contributed much in formation of Azerbaijani journalism, Member of Parliament Ganira Pashayeva underlined. Journalism is indeed a very difficult profession and women working in this sphere have great responsibility, she added.
As stated, more than 3,300 media outlets were registered in Azerbaijan. Currently only 600 of them are functioning. Some 400 newspapers and magazines are published and more than 20 TVs function in the country. There are about 50 electronic media outlets, 20 news agencies in Azerbaijan.
As Pashayeva stated at the Forum, women's main mission is to support justice. “I would like to see more women in executive positions, in media and in TVs,” she emphasized.
Women journalists have significant role in the history of national media, Sevil Yusifova, president of the Women Journalist Association of Azerbaijan said.
Azerbaijan attaches particular attention to the development of journalism, Vugar Aliyev, chief department of Azerbaijan President Administration, said at the Forum. At his words, “the Fund of Governmental Support to Media Development will help to strengthen the media outlets.”
Attending the Forum, chairman of Azerbaijan Press Council Aflatun Amashov said the Azerbaijani media develops and women journalists have contributed much to it.
