THAILAND TO HOLD LARGEST-EVER TRADE EXPO IN INDONESIA
Jakarta, July 15 (ANTARA) - Thailand will hold a "Made in Thailand Exhibition 2009", the largest trade expo ever organized in Indonesia, at the Jakarta Convention Hall here on July 23-26, 2009.
"Made in Thailand Exhibition 2009 will be the largest and exclusive trade expo ever organized by the Department of Export Promotion (DEP) of the Thai Ministry of Commerce, and the Thai Trade Center, in Jakarta," DEP (commercial) Counselor Natchatorn Manopanjasiri, said in a press conference, here on Wednesday.
The Thai trade expo is aimed at introducing quality Thai products to the Indonesian public, he said.
"The expo, which will have 100 stands, will display various products of good quality from 81 Thai companies," he said.
DEP Agriculture Counselor Chomjet said among products to be displayed will be fresh fruits, food and beverages, jewelries, fashion accessories, textiles, garments, decorative, gifts, housewares, stationaries, cosmetics and other beauty products.
"Besides, we will also promote pharmaceutical products, automotive components, electrical products, Thai restaurants, as well travel bureaus," he said.
The exhibition will be the fourth ever organized by Thailand in Indonesia, following a successful one in 2008.
Last year, at least 20,000 people visited the Thai trade expo in Jakarta which succeeded in collecting high transaction value.
The event will be an opportunity for exporters and importers to meet directly, according to the Thai diplomat.
Thai Ambassador to Indonesia Lt Arkasid Amatayakul will officially open the exhibition.
According to Natchatorn Manapanjasiri, the bilateral trade ties between Thailand and Indonesia continued to increase.
In 2008, the total trade value between the two countries was recorded at US$11.734 million, up 33 percent from that in 2007.
Thailand's main exports to Indonesia include automotive products, spare parts, accessories, chemical products, food products, steel, and beauty products.
