42nd Tehran International Short Film Festival kicks off

Tehran, IRNA— The 42nd Tehran International Short Film Festival (TISFF) has kicked off at the Iran Mall Cinema Complex, featuring the theme of Rationality and Intellectualism.

The jury panel for the International Competition consists of Saeid Ebrahimifar, Thom Palmen, Mirona Radu, Damien Kocur, and Joe Chang.

They will evaluate the selected films in the categories of fiction, animation, documentary, and experimental.

This year's festival will honor filmmaker and educator Arash Rassafi for his 35 years of contributions to Iranian short cinema.In addition, a 290-page film catalog has been published to support the audience attending the event.

The TISFF has been held annually for 41 consecutive years by the Iranian Youth Cinema Society (IYCS), which is recognized as one of the leading institutions for cinema and short film production in Iran and globally.

The festival is officially recognized by the Academy Awards®️ (Oscars), allowing the winner of the Grand Prize to become eligible for Oscar consideration.

The 42nd TISFF, directed by Behrooz Shoaibi, will take place from October 19 to 24, 2025.
