Thai Army Commander Monitors Landmine Clearance

SA KAEO, Oct 20 (TNA) - The Commander of Thailand's First Army Area, Lt. Gen. Worayot Luangsuwan, visited the Cambodian border in Sa Kaeo province today to oversee landmine clearance and prepare to return de-mined land to residents.
The commander monitored operations in Ban Nong Chan, Khok Sung district, before heading to Ban Nong Ya Kaew to hand over 100% cleared plots to two registered landowners whose names appear on title deeds for the cleared plots.
Since October 10, operations in Ban Nong Ya Kaew have found and removed 11 anti-personnel landmines. Yesterday, personnel in Ban Nong Chan discovered four anti-personnel landmines (three functional, one damaged), all of which were safely cleared.
The border area remains quiet, with normal life observed in Cambodian border communities. Cambodian military forces continue to monitor the Thai border.
The Thai Burapha Task Force is conducting continuous drone surveillance. Security forces are maintaining close vigilance for public safety. -819 (TNA)
