Thailand’s Queen Mother Sirikit passes away at 93

BANGKOK, Oct 25 (TNA) - Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, the royal consort of Thailand’s late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, passed away on Friday at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok at the age of 93, the Royal Household Bureau has announced.
The Queen Mother passed away at 9:21 p.m. on October 24, 2025, from a blood infection, according to the official statement.
She had been hospitalized at the facility since September 7, 2019, for continuous monitoring and treatment for various health irregularities. Her condition worsened significantly after contracting the blood infection on October 17, 2025.
His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn, her son, has commanded the Royal Household Bureau to arrange the funeral rites with the highest royal honours. Her body will be laid in state at the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Grand Palace.
The King also mandated a one-year period of mourning for all royal family members and court officials, effective immediately.
Queen Sirikit was a revered figure in Thailand, having served as queen consort alongside her husband, the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who passed away in 2016.
