Two New Medals Raise Saudi Teams’ Tally to 14 at Asian Youth Games in Bahrain

Manama, October 28, 2025, SPA -- Saudi teams participating in the third Asian Youth Games in Bahrain have raised Saudi Arabia's medal count to 14 after camel racer Wasmi Al-Balawi and weightlifter Abdullah Al-Muhaimid each won bronze on Monday.
Al-Balawi finished third in the youth individual camel racing event. The United Arab Emirates claimed both gold and silver in the same event, which featured athletes from 13 Asian countries.
Al-Muhaimid secured the second Saudi bronze in the 65 kg weight category (snatch), lifting 122 kg.
In eSports, group-stage results in the Street Fighter 6 competition produced an all-Saudi quarterfinal matchup between Faisal Al-Nafisi and Talal Rajkhan, scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Al-Nafisi advanced from Group A after defeating Mongolia, Kyrgyz Republic, and Thailand (2–0 each) and losing to Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei (0–2). Rajkhan progressed from Group B after victories over Jordan and Sri Lanka (2–0) and losses to Chinese Taipei and the UAE.
In table tennis, the Saudi trio of Abdulrahman Al-Taher, Nihal Al-Qahtani, and Saud Al-Taher won their second-round singles matches on Monday morning. Saud Al-Taher beat Yemen’s Wissam Bakhah 3–0, Nihal Al-Qahtani defeated Cambodia’s Sukon 3–0, and Abdulrahman Al-Taher overcame Lebanon’s Ramez Al-Dakdouki 3–0.
Al-Qahtani will face China’s Yu Heyi in the Round of 32 at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, while Abdulrahman Al-Taher meets Lebanon’s Michel Abi Nader in the Round of 64 at 11:30 a.m. Saud Al-Taher advances directly to the Round of 32.
The Saudi handball team is close to reaching its first-ever final in the history of the Asian Youth Games, which began in 2009. The team will face China in the semifinals on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.
The Saudi swimming team continues its participation on Tuesday with five events beginning at 10:00 a.m. Swimmers will compete in the 100 m freestyle, 200 m breaststroke, 50 m backstroke, and 50 m butterfly, followed by the 4×100 m medley relay at 11:50 a.m.
In wrestling, Saad Al-Subaie will open the Saudi national team’s campaign on Tuesday morning, facing Yemen’s representative in the 48 kg category at 10:30 a.m.
