Kyrgyzstan, EBRD sign memo on infrastructure development

Bishkek, Oct. 30, 2025 /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Ministry of Finance and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on infrastructure development in Kyrgyzstan.

According to the ministry, the relevant memorandum was signed by Finance Minister Almaz Baketayev and EBRD Vice-President Matteo Patrone.

The memorandum paves the way for the preparation of a framework agreement to support priority projects in the municipal infrastructure, irrigation and transport sectors with a total value of 400 million euros. This agreement is expected to contribute to the development of sustainable infrastructure across the country and optimize the EBRD's relevant investments.

EBRD has also allocated the second tranche of financing for the Bazar-Korgon water supply project, the amount of which is 3.3 million euros (including 1.6 million euros in grant).

The finance will help modernize the city's water supply infrastructure and provide more than 60 thousand local residents with uninterrupted access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation. The technical assistance provided under the project will strengthen the institutional, operational and financial capacity of the local utility. This is the seventh sovereign infrastructure project signed by EBRD in Kyrgyzstan in 2025, bringing the total amount of investments provided by the bank in the country's infrastructure this year up to €100 million.
