Al-Sudani Reaffirms Iraq’s Commitment to Strengthening Cooperation with the UN

Baghdad / NINA /-Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani affirmed the government’s keenness to strengthen relations with the United Nations, emphasizing continued cooperation with the international organization on developmental and economic programs following the conclusion of the UNAMI mission in Iraq.

A statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office said that Al-Sudani received today, Saturday, the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Iraq, Mohamed El Hassan. The meeting reviewed the overall areas of cooperation between Iraq and the United Nations, particularly the programs implemented by the organization in the country.

The statement added that the discussions also covered the government’s preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections and the measures taken to ensure their success. Al-Sudani reaffirmed the government’s full support for the Independent High Electoral Commission to guarantee that the election results truly reflect the will of the Iraqi people./ End
